The family visited Rwanda to gain first\u2011hand insight into HDI\u2019s community work and the tangible impact of its programmes.<\/p>\n<p>During their stay, the Callahan family toured the HDI head office and community centres, met with staff and beneficiaries, and observed field interventions across several Kigali locations, including Nyamirambo, Nyabugogo, and Cyaruzinge in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply inspired by the dedication of HDI\u2019s team and the resilience of the communities they serve,\u201d said Crystal Callahan. \u201cSeeing the programmes in action \u2013 from health services to skills training \u2013 reaffirms why we support this vital work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through a series of field visits and open discussions, the family learned how HDI supports some of Rwanda\u2019s most vulnerable groups, including:<\/p>\n<p>Adolescent mothers \u2013 access to sexual and reproductive health education, maternal health services, and psychosocial support.<\/p>\n<p>Young women \u2013 life skills and vocational training to foster economic independence.<\/p>\n<p>Sex workers \u2013 non\u2011discriminatory health services, legal aid, and advocacy for their rights.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, HDI staff showcased integrated approaches that combine health services, education, skills development, and community empowerment to break cycles of poverty and marginalisation.<\/p>\n<p>The Callahan\u2011Palmer Charitable Trust has been a long\u2011standing partner of HDI, enabling the organisation to scale its outreach and strengthen community\u2011based interventions. This visit reaffirmed the trust\u2019s commitment to advancing health and human rights in Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting partners like the Callahan family allows us to share not just our results, but the stories and dignity of the people we work with every day,\u201d said a representative from HDI. \u201cTheir support fuels our mission to leave no one behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HDI extends its sincere gratitude to Crystal, Tess, and Blake for their visit and continued partnership.
